In the winter of 2014, a young man's life was cut short in Memphis, Tennessee. Denzel Keshun Monroe, a 19-year-old male, was fatally shot on January 31, 2014. The incident unfolded on Birdsong Ferry/Sugar Creek, where Monroe was a passenger in a vehicle with five other individuals.
The vehicle they were in was ambushed by 18-year-old Jeromee White. It is reported that Monroe knew his attacker. In a tragic turn of events, as the gunfire erupted, Monroe attempted to exit the vehicle to intervene and stop the shooting. It was during this brave act that he was struck by the gunfire, sustaining a fatal wound.
Following the investigation into the shooting, Jeromee White was apprehended and faced serious charges. He was charged with first-degree murder for the death of Denzel Keshun Monroe. In addition to the murder charge, White was also charged with five counts of criminal attempt felony murder, reflecting the danger posed to the other occupants of the vehicle. Furthermore, he was charged with the employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
