On the morning of May 19, 2015, the Elizabethton Police Department responded to a distress call at the Traveler’s Inn, located at 505 W. Elk Ave. Upon arrival around 7:50 a.m., officers discovered 24-year-old Suman Preet Sarkaria in a hotel room, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was promptly transported to Johnson City Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
