On a spring afternoon in Charlotte, Tennessee, the life of 29-year-old Quintin Dewayne Tidwell was cut short by gunfire. The violent encounter on April 12, 2016, also resulted in the death of 23-year-old Marcedez Teroy Bell and left a third man, Montae Springer, seriously injured with multiple gunshot wounds. The shooting erupted at a public picnic area, shattering the peace of the small town.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly led authorities to identify three suspects: cousins Isiah Primm and Kurtis Primm, and Jonathan Hughes Jr. Isiah Primm admitted to investigators that he had arranged to meet Tidwell at the park to fight over a $200 drug debt and ongoing taunts on social media. The confrontation escalated dramatically, resulting in a barrage of bullets. Springer, the surviving victim, identified Isiah Primm as the one who shot and killed Quintin Tidwell, and Kurtis Primm as the person who shot him.
Following the investigation, all three men faced serious charges. Isiah Primm was ultimately convicted by a jury of two counts of first-degree felony murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. His cousin, Kurtis Primm, chose to plead guilty to charges of attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, for which he was sentenced to serve at least 15 years in prison. The third suspect, Jonathan Hughes Jr., was also convicted for his role in the deadly shooting, with a jury finding him guilty of one count of first-degree murder, one count of criminally negligent homicide, and three counts of conspiracy to commit murder.
