On Halloween night in 2016, a domestic disturbance in Cleveland, Tennessee, ended in the shooting death of 45-year-old James Michael 'Tooter' Cheatham. A former boxer and a self-employed businessman, Cheatham was a well-known figure in his community. He was a married father of two, and on that fateful evening, an altercation with his wife, Miranda Cheatham, escalated to a tragic conclusion.
