In the spring of 2017, the life of Antonio Jarquise Baldwin, a 23-year-old African American male, was tragically cut short on the streets of Chattanooga, Tennessee. On the evening of March 23, authorities responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Baldwin on the 3300 block of Pinewood Avenue, suffering from critical gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical attention, but despite the efforts of the surgical team, he succumbed to his injuries.

Chattanooga Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau promptly launched a homicide investigation into Baldwin's death. At the scene of the incident, another individual, identified as William Daniel, was also found with gunshot wounds. Daniel survived the shooting and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Investigators determined that both men were validated gang members.
In the course of their investigation, detectives faced challenges in gathering information from the surviving victim. According to police, neither of the men who were shot cooperated with authorities when questioned about the events that transpired that evening. This lack of cooperation has made it difficult to identify a suspect or suspects in the case.
