On a late March afternoon in 2018, 71-year-old Melvin Lee Scott, a white male from Harrison, Tennessee, found himself caught in a domestic confrontation inside a home on Eldridge Road that would end in gunfire and tragedy. Scott had lived through war and peace; years earlier he had worn a U.S. Army uniform during the Vietnam War era, serving as a specialist before eventually returning to civilian life in Hamilton County.
