Haleei A. Newton, an 18-year-old female, had just graduated from Ruston High School, a milestone celebrated by her family a mere 75 hours before her life was tragically cut short. In the early morning hours of Saturday, May 25, 2024, shortly after midnight, Newton was driving eastbound on Interstate 20 in Ruston, Louisiana, with a male friend. They were returning from an event in Arcadia when another vehicle pulled alongside her 2009 Kia and unleashed a volley of gunfire.
