On what should have been a day of celebration, his 25th birthday, Clark R. Cable was tragically killed in his Brentwood, Tennessee, home on December 3, 2018. The young Caucasian male was at the residence with his parents and brother when the fatal incident unfolded. The family had returned from a Predators hockey game, where his parents noticed Clark seemed distracted by text messages he was receiving throughout the evening.
Later that night, while in an upstairs portion of the house, he was struck by a single gunshot to the chest.
The investigation into the shooting determined that it was a targeted drive-by. Authorities identified two individuals, Dustin William Russell and Lyndsey Grace Bronston, as suspects in the homicide. The pair was located and arrested in Arizona before being extradited to Tennessee to face charges of criminal homicide for their roles in the shooting. The investigation revealed a bizarre motive behind the violent act.
Court documents and reports indicate that Bronston, who worked as a prostitute, had the victim as a client. She had developed a belief that Cable was part of a larger conspiracy to kidnap her for the purpose of sex trafficking. Bronston shared this unfounded concern with Russell, with whom she was romantically involved. Fueled by this conspiracy theory, Russell drove with Bronston to the victim's home. He then fired approximately fifteen shots into the house, with one of the bullets fatally striking Cable. In his subsequent trial, Russell admitted to shooting the victim.
