In the quiet town of Selmer, Tennessee, the life of Eduardo Cota, a 35-year-old Hispanic male, came to a violent and sudden end. On March 26, 2019, Cota, a military veteran who had relocated from California, was found deceased inside his residence on Beverly Lane. An investigation by the McNairy County Sheriff's Office determined that he had died from a gunshot wound in what was being treated as a homicide.
Having recently settled in the area, Cota was employed at a restaurant in the
nearby city of Lexington. On the day of his death, he had completed his shift and returned home, unknowingly walking into a fatal ambush. Investigators believe that multiple assailants were lying in wait for him inside his house. He was shot several times in the attack.
Despite the violent nature of the crime, very little evidence was left behind at the scene, leaving law enforcement with a challenging investigation. Authorities were able to recover a shoe print and tire tracks from a vehicle. Additionally, they obtained video footage of a small, white, four-door car that was seen in the vicinity. However, these leads have not yet proven fruitful in identifying any suspects, and the identities of those in the vehicle remain unknown.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Eduardo Cota, and the case officially remains unsolved. The McNairy County Sheriff's Office has stated that solving this homicide is a top priority and continues to urge anyone with information to come forward, hoping that a crucial piece of evidence or a new lead will bring justice for Cota and his family.
