In the quiet town of Hartsville, Tennessee, the life of 21-year-old Bailey Danielle 'Boo' Donoho was tragically cut short on Sunday, March 31, 2019. Known for a contagious laugh that could light up any room, Bailey was a mother, daughter, and friend whose absence would leave a profound void in her community.
The events leading to her untimely death unfolded on March 30th at a residence on Browning Branch Road.
Bailey was in a vehicle with a male acquaintance and another man, Benjamen Carter. At some point, an altercation occurred, which resulted in Carter allegedly exiting the vehicle and firing shots into the truck. The gunfire fatally wounded Bailey. The other male passenger managed to escape the vehicle and run to a neighboring house for help as Carter reportedly drove away from the scene.
The Trousdale County Sheriff's Department, along with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, launched an immediate investigation into the homicide. Their efforts quickly led them to identify Benjamen Carter as the primary suspect. Already in custody at the Trousdale County Jail on an unrelated charge, Carter was served with new charges stemming from the investigation into Bailey's death.
A Trousdale County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Benjamen Carter with one count of First Degree Murder for the death of Bailey Donoho and one count of Attempted First Degree Murder related to the other passenger in the vehicle. Following the indictment, Carter remained incarcerated in the Trousdale County Jail, held without bond as he awaited legal proceedings.
