In the fall of 2017, the Walnut Park West neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, became the setting for a violent tragedy involving 43-year-old Shawn A. Kottmann. On the afternoon of October 7, 2017, police officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department were summoned to the 5900 block of Sherry Avenue following reports of a shooting.
