In the late spring of 2020, the community of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, was shaken by the violent end to the life of Benjamin Allen 'Ben' Cunningham, a 28-year-old male. On the morning of May 28th, police responded to reports of gunfire at the Lawrence Landing Apartments on Oak Street. Inside one of the units, they discovered the bodies of Benjamin Cunningham and a second victim, 38-year-old Corie J. Williams. Both men had been fatally shot in what was determined to be a double homicide.
The investigation into the deaths quickly pointed to 22-year-old Sebastian Arzadon of Summertown as the primary suspect. Evidence gathered at the scene led detectives to Arzadon, who had fled on foot. Later that same day, around 11:00 a.m., authorities located him hiding in a drainage ditch near Howard Street and took him into custody. The motive for the killings was believed by investigators to be drug-related. A second individual, Reneisha L. Wiley, was also implicated in the crime and faced charges of first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Following his arrest, Sebastian Arzadon was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, especially aggravated burglary, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was initially held on a 4.2 million dollar bond. Subsequently, Arzadon pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder. For the murder of Benjamin Cunningham, he received a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. For the murder of Corie Williams, he was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole, bringing a measure of legal closure to the tragic and sudden loss of two lives.
