In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Knoxville, Tennessee, the life of 48-year-old Robert Andrade was tragically cut short. On August 9, 2020, Andrade, a Hispanic male, became one of two victims in a fatal shooting that unfolded inside a building on the 600 block of Ben Hur Avenue, near Selma Avenue. When police responded to the scene, they discovered Andrade and 29-year-old Jamaica Greenlee, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Another individual had reportedly driven themselves to a local hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds from the same incident.
Robert Andrade, known affectionately as 'Coco' to his friends and family, was a father and a long-time employee of Knoxville Area Transit, where he had worked as a bus operator for nearly 14 years. His sudden and violent death sent shockwaves through the community. He was remembered as a loving son, a dedicated father, and a cherished friend to many.
The investigation into the double homicide led Knoxville Police to a suspect. Eli Mostella, who was 20 years old at the time, was arrested in connection with the killings. He was subsequently charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Andrade and Greenlee, as well as two counts of attempted first-degree murder. The community now awaits the progression of the legal proceedings, seeking justice for the lives lost that summer morning.
