In the early morning hours of October 25, 2020, the community of Newbern, Tennessee, was shaken by an act of violence that claimed the life of 49-year-old Robert Pearlie Brandon. The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. at a business located in the 100 block of Smith Street. Officers from the Newbern Police Department and deputies from the Dyer County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting and, upon their arrival, discovered Mr. Brandon deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting was a collaborative effort involving the Newbern Police Department, the Dyer County Sheriff's Office, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Through their joint investigation, authorities identified Terence Jamal Robinson as the individual responsible for the death of Robert Brandon. A warrant was subsequently issued for Robinson's arrest, charging him with one count of First Degree Murder.
For a period, Terence Robinson remained at large, and law enforcement sought the public's assistance in locating him. The search came to an end on November 3, 2020, when Robinson was taken into custody in Nashville. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Dyer County Jail to face the charge of First Degree Murder in connection with the shooting death of Robert Pearlie Brandon.
