In the quiet town of Arlington, Tennessee, a young man's life was tragically cut short in a burst of violence that shattered the evening calm. Anthony Grayson, a 19-year-old male, was shot and killed on Monday, December 7, 2020, in an incident that unfolded around 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of Airline Road and Highway 70. Another individual was wounded in the altercation but survived.
The investigation into the shooting led authorities to a McDonald's parking lot located at 11590 Highway 70. It was there that the events leading to Grayson's death transpired. According to investigators, a prearranged marijuana sale turned deadly. An altercation broke out when the prospective buyers allegedly attempted to use counterfeit money to complete the transaction. The dispute rapidly escalated, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. In the ensuing chaos, Grayson sustained multiple gunshot wounds that proved to be fatal.
Following a thorough investigation, three men were identified as suspects in the killing. In May 2021, Delmarc Hollingsworth, Anterion Springfield, and Montre Jeter were taken into custody. The three men surrendered to the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Shelby County Fugitive Apprehension Team in Brownsville, Tennessee. Prior to their arrest, on April 29, 2021, a grand jury had returned indictments against them. All three were charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Anthony Grayson. The investigation revealed that after the shooting, Hollingsworth allegedly drove Springfield and Jeter to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton in Covington, where they were treated for their own gunshot wounds.
