In the Hickory Hill neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee, on April 11, 2021, the life of Darian Coburn, a 22-year-old Black/African American male, was tragically cut short. He was discovered inside his apartment at the Enclave Apartments, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. The scene within the apartment suggested a violent struggle had taken place; the space was ransacked, with belongings scattered about, indicating that robbery was a likely motive for the deadly encounter.
