In a remote area north of Whiteville, Tennessee, the life of 26-year-old Tatianne Delk was tragically cut short on the evening of August 9, 2021. Authorities responded to a report of a shooting and discovered her body; she had been fatally shot. The investigation revealed that Delk had traveled to Whiteville from her home in another part of Tennessee with her young daughter under the pretense of a business meeting.
Investigators determined that the meeting was a setup.
Once Delk and her daughter arrived at the location on Mt. Tabor Road, they were ambushed. Delk was murdered, and her vehicle and other personal items were stolen. Her daughter, who was present during the horrific event, was not physically harmed. The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned several miles from the crime scene.
A joint investigation by the Hardeman County Sheriff's Office, the Whiteville Police Department, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation led to the identification of three suspects. On August 13, 2021, authorities arrested 28-year-old Shantell Essie of Whiteville, 37-year-old Jeremy Patterson of Saulsbury, and 33-year-old Johnnie Tate of Whiteville. All three were charged with first-degree murder and booked into the Hardeman County Jail.
