On a cold December morning in 2007, the city of Minneapolis was shaken by a double homicide that claimed the life of 27-year-old Arie Musse Jama, a Black male from St. Paul. His body was discovered in an alley, the victim of gunshot wounds to the chest and neck. Not far from where Jama was found, in the hallway of a south Minneapolis apartment building, lay another victim, 25-year-old Najib A. Omar, who had been shot in the head.
