On a tragic day in Somerville, Tennessee, 42-year-old Darius Springfield, a Black male, lost his life in a violent sequence of events on June 24, 2022. Springfield, along with Nakita Anderson, was discovered inside a vehicle that had crashed into a house on South Somerville Street and subsequently caught fire. First responders were met with a devastating scene, and after the flames were extinguished, the true nature of the tragedy was revealed.
Both Springfield and Anderson had sustained gunshot wounds, indicating a grim prelude to the fiery crash.
The investigation into the double homicide was a collaborative effort involving the Somerville Police Department, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Through their diligent work, investigators identified two suspects responsible for the shootings: Kentavious Taylor and Brandon Auston, both from the nearby town of Moscow.
