On a late August afternoon in Hendersonville, Tennessee, a quiet suburban street was shattered by violence that claimed the life of 67-year-old Virginia Deirdre Sheen. Known affectionately as 'Didi,' she was a woman described by those who knew her as loving, courageous, and a true free spirit with a passion for art and helping others.
The tragic events of August 29, 2022, unfolded when an argument erupted in the front yard of a neighbor's home.
The dispute was between Laura Undis, 60, and her former partner, 72-year-old Lloyd T. Martin Jr. As the conflict escalated, Sheen, a compassionate neighbor, attempted to intervene. It was in this selfless act of trying to protect her friend that she was fatally wounded. Martin allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot both Sheen and Undis. Both women were rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to their injuries.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, 'Good Samaritans' at the scene reportedly detained Martin until Hendersonville Police arrived.
