In the early morning hours of October 30, 2022, a shooting shattered the quiet of Old Asheville Highway in Greeneville, Tennessee, tragically ending the life of 22-year-old Juan Tauscher. Tauscher, a male resident of Greeneville and a member of the Tennessee National Guard, was with another individual when the violent encounter unfolded just before 3:00 a.m. Both victims were struck by gunfire and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Juan Tauscher succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Greeneville Police Department, with assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, launched an intensive investigation into the homicide. Their efforts led them to identify three juvenile suspects in connection with the fatal shooting. Due to their ages at the time of the offense, their identities were initially withheld. However, the gravity of the charges prompted the justice system to transfer their cases to adult court, bringing their names into the public record.
The investigation culminated in the arrests of Tyler Adams, Edward Houser, and Christopher Nance. Adams and Houser face the most severe charges, including first-degree murder, attempted murder, and especially aggravated burglary, indicating a violent and premeditated intrusion. Christopher Nance was charged as an accessory after the fact, suggesting he assisted the primary suspects after the commission of the crime. Following their charges as adults, Adams and Nance were booked into the Greene County Detention Center, while Houser was reportedly held in a Knox County facility. At the time of the incident, Houser was allegedly on the run from the Department of Children's Services. The case against the three individuals is slated to proceed through the adult criminal justice system, with court dates set for their arraignments.
