Police Officer Clarence Lawrence Eaton, aged 28, was shot and killed on August 16, 1902, while attempting to break up a fight at a dance held at Heslep's Grove in Donora, Pennsylvania. Officer Eaton, who was off-duty and attending the dance with his wife, had initially managed to calm the situation and asked the attendees to be peaceful. However, the fight reignited, and one of the brothers of a juvenile involved in the altercation ran to the scene and shot Officer Eaton, resulting in his death.
