Margaret Yablonski, aged 55, was tragically murdered on December 31, 1969, in Clarksville, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of Joseph "Jock" Yablonski, a candidate for the presidency of the United Mine Workers of America , who also lost his life in the attack along with their 24-year-old daughter, Charlotte. The murders were carried out by three hitmen hired by Tony Boyle, the incumbent president of the UMWA, who was embroiled in a contentious election campaign against Jock Yablonski.
