Dr. Ernest Trout, a 67-year-old male physician from Springfield, PA, tragically died on October 30, 1985, as a result of gunshot wounds sustained during a shooting rampage at the Springfield Mall. The incident occurred when Sylvia Seegrist, a 25-year-old woman diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, opened fire on shoppers with a semiautomatic rifle.
