Dr. Eugene P. "Gene" Segro, a 51-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity, was the principal of Red Lion Area Middle School in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. On April 24, 2003, he was tragically shot and killed by a 14-year-old student named James Sheets in the school cafeteria. Segro had served as principal for seven years and assistant principal for eight years at the school. He was well-loved by students and staff for his dedication and lenient approach to discipline.
