In the early morning hours of October 21, 2014, the body of 16-year-old Ty'Feak Gordon was discovered by a passerby in a narrow alley in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The young man, who lived just a few blocks away, was found in the 2300 block of Dove Court, situated in the city's Newberry neighborhood, having sustained a single gunshot wound to his upper body. Emergency responders were called to the scene around 12:30 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive male and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators have remained circumspect about the details of Gordon's death, releasing limited information regarding a possible motive or any potential suspects. It remains unknown if there were any witnesses to the shooting, and authorities have not indicated how much time might have elapsed between the fatal shot and the discovery of his body. The person who reported the unresponsive male did not report hearing a gunshot. Described by his family as a 'typical teenager' with an 'absolutely charming smile,' Gordon was remembered as an 'all-around great kid, who liked track and video games.' Though his family acknowledged he had some previous encounters with law enforcement, they emphasized that he was working towards his GED and was the father of two young children.
In the days following the discovery of their son's body, Gordon's family made an emotional public plea for any information that could lead to the arrest of his killer. They announced a reward of nearly $50,000 for information that would bring the person or persons responsible to justice. A few months after the shooting, in February 2015, an arrest was made in connection to the case, though not for the murder itself. A 21-year-old Williamsport man, Dwayne Evon Morton, was charged with felony intimidation of a witness, felony retaliation against a witness, and misdemeanor stalking. Authorities stated that Morton had confronted and threatened a female who had spoken with investigators about Gordon's murder. He was accused of attempting to spit on her, shoving her, and then pursuing her across a parking lot where he spat on her back and threatened to assault her. There have been no further public announcements regarding suspects or arrests in the murder of Ty'Feak Gordon.
