In early January of 2016, a concerned citizen's call to check on a vehicle parked along Monica Court in Mansfield Township, New Jersey, led to a grim discovery. Inside his silver Dodge Avenger, police found 68-year-old James Dewyer, who had been fatally shot. The man, whose last known address was in Burlington Township, had reportedly been living in area motels for a few years prior to his death.
The investigation into the death of the male victim was a collaborative effort between the
Mansfield Township Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office. Their work led them to a suspect, Quinnizel J. Clark, a 35-year-old man from Belleville. Investigators learned that Clark and Dewyer were acquainted and had spent time together on the day of the murder. Evidence suggested that Clark drove Dewyer's car to the quiet residential street where the vehicle was later found. It was there that he shot Dewyer multiple times before leaving the scene on foot.
Following a thorough investigation, Quinnizel J. Clark was arrested on July 8, 2016. He was subsequently charged with murder and weapons offenses. In November 2017, a jury found Clark guilty of the charges brought against him. The following month, he was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of James Dewyer. Under the terms of his sentence, he would be required to serve 85 percent of his term before becoming eligible for parole.
