Hakim Rahman, a 35-year-old man from Philadelphia, PA, was tragically killed on August 22, 2016, during a home invasion in Hunting Park. Rahman, who was the father of six children aged between 5 and 13 years old, was shot in the abdomen by two masked intruders who broke into his home through a rear kitchen window. The suspects demanded money from Rahman and his girlfriend, and when Rahman did not comply quickly enough, they fired several shots, killing him and injuring his girlfriend.
Rahman's girlfriend was shot twice and was rushed to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. The suspects fled the scene, but police recovered several pieces of evidence, including a mask, a shotgun, and a sack of shotgun shells. Investigators believe that Rahman recognized the voice of one of the suspects and called him by his nickname, which may have led to the shooting.
Despite the tragic circumstances, Rahman's six children were unharmed. The older children were in the same room as their father when he was killed, while the younger ones heard the shooting but did not witness it. Police are still investigating the case and are hopeful that surveillance footage from the area will provide additional clues.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Rahman's death. The investigation is ongoing, and police are actively searching for the suspects. The community has been deeply affected by this senseless act of violence, and Rahman's family continues to seek justice for his untimely death.
