On September 28, 2016, at approximately 3:22 a.m., Coatesville police responded to reports of gunfire at 577 East Lincoln Highway. Upon entering a rear apartment, they discovered two male victims: David Wayne Fitzsimmons, 56, who was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound, and William Chance, 46, who was critically injured. William Chance was transported to Paoli Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Both men were White.
