In the winter of 2016, a tragedy unfolded in the East Hills neighborhood of Pittsburgh, forever altering the lives of a young family. On the evening of December 19th, 25-year-old Myanne Hayes, a mother of three, was fatally shot while sitting in her vehicle on Wilner Drive. The incident occurred just before 9:15 p.m., shattering the calm of the residential street. Her car was riddled with bullets, and despite the efforts of officers who performed CPR, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members described her as a caring mother who was dedicated to her children, ages 3, 5, and 7 at the time of her death.
In the wake of the shooting, police began a search for a man seen fleeing the area, described as a Black male with a thin build. The investigation soon led them to Isaiah James Booker, 23, with whom Hayes had a child. Booker was subsequently charged with homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and illegally possessing a firearm in connection with her death. Some reports in the media referred to the victim by the name Myanne Redman.
Investigators discovered a video on Booker's Facebook page, posted on February 12 of the same year, which showed someone firing three gunshots and then running away. This discovery proved to be a critical piece of evidence. Police learned that Booker had been arrested on the same day the video was posted in McKees Rocks, and at the time of that arrest, he was in possession of a. 38-caliber revolver. A ballistics test later confirmed that this was the same weapon used to kill Myanne Hayes.
