In a quiet Lancaster Township home in December of 2017, a tragic event unfolded, leaving two people dead in what authorities would later describe as a domestic-related murder-suicide. Jacqueline Vera, a 36-year-old woman, was found deceased alongside 55-year-old Reynol Maymi.
Manheim Township police were called to the residence on Elmshire Drive on the evening of Monday, December 11th. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of Vera and Maymi.
Investigators quickly determined that their deaths were the result of a homicide-suicide and that there was no further threat to the public.
Authorities reported that a firearm, which had been legally purchased, was recovered at the scene. The Lancaster County Coroner's Office was tasked with performing autopsies to officially determine the cause of death for both individuals. Police characterized the incident as not a random act of violence, pointing to a domestic relationship between Vera and Maymi. An obituary for Jacqueline Vera-Castillo confirmed her passing on that Monday.
