On October 14, 2019, Damaya Alcindor, a 10-month-old girl from Philadelphia, PA, tragically lost her life. Damaya, along with her 4-year-old sister Maxillie and her father Max Alcindor, aged 38, were fatally shot by their mother, Damyrra Jones, who was 28 years old. The incident occurred in their home in the Tacony neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia. Damyrra Jones then turned the gun on herself, but survived with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
