Shylique Raheem Folk, a 19-year-old male from York, PA, tragically passed away on February 18, 2020, at York Hospital. Born on May 31, 2000, Shylique was known for his loyalty, intelligence, and dedication to his family. He is survived by his parents, Shanta Palmer and Rashad R. Folk, his stepmother Azure Williams, his companion Shakavia Rosado, and his daughter Kay'onni Folk, among other family members.
On February 17, 2020, Shylique was fatally shot by Donovan Lucret, then 18 years
old, on Smith Street near Jefferson Avenue in York. The incident occurred after a previous altercation on November 25, 2019, where Folk and two other men allegedly broke into Lucret's home, assaulting him. Lucret claimed he acted in self-defense during the shooting, but a York County jury rejected this argument and convicted him of first-degree murder.
Donovan Lucret was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on February 8, 2022. The court found that Lucret had a motive to kill Folk and acted as judge, jury, and executioner. The jury deliberated for less than an hour before reaching their verdict.
