Wendy was killed by multiple gunshot wounds to her chest, and the perpetrator, Mark Plizga, a 51-year-old man from Harborcreek Township, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. The incident occurred in the 2100 block of East 20th Street in Erie, where Plizga had followed Wendy in separate vehicles and blocked her in with his car. After exiting his vehicle, he shot Wendy while she was still inside her car before turning the gun on himself.
