On the evening of February 1, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in Chester, Pennsylvania, leaving two young men from Philadelphia dead and a community in shock. Rasheen Nasir Jones, a 20-year-old Black male and aspiring rapper known as RunUp Rico, was killed in the incident. The shooting, which also claimed the life of 19-year-old Kwann Henderson, unfolded at approximately 7:23 p.m. near the corner of West 3rd and Lamokin Streets. When police arrived, they discovered a silver Chevrolet Impala that had crashed into a building in the 1100 block of West Third Street. Inside the vehicle, they found Jones and Henderson, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, while Henderson was rushed to Crozer Chester Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation into the double homicide quickly painted a picture of a robbery gone tragically wrong. Surveillance footage from a convenience store at 1100 West 3rd Street proved to be a critical piece of evidence. The video captured the victims' car parked outside moments before the shooting. It also showed two males approaching the vehicle after leaving the store. One of the individuals was seen on camera appearing to fire a gun into the driver's side of the car before fleeing the scene on foot. This footage, along with witness testimony, was instrumental in identifying the suspects.

Within weeks of the shooting, arrests began to be made. The first suspect, a 15-year-old male who was just 14 at the time of the crime, was taken into custody. He was charged with first-, second-, and third-degree murder, criminal homicide, robbery, and possession of a firearm by a minor. The investigation further revealed the involvement of a 17-year-old female who allegedly orchestrated the meet-up with the intention of robbing Jones. Text messages showed her coordinating the robbery with another individual, even exchanging a picture of Jones to confirm him as the target. She was subsequently arrested and charged with criminal homicide, murder, robbery, and conspiracy, among other offenses.

The final suspect, 27-year-old Darren Majeed, was apprehended in June of that year, bringing the four-month-long investigation to a close. He faced a similar slate of charges, including criminal homicide, murder, and robbery. All three suspects were held without bail at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility. The arrests brought a measure of resolution to the case, though the senseless violence of that February evening left an indelible mark on the families of Rasheen Jones and Kwann Henderson and the wider Chester community.
