In the summer of 2021, a tragedy unfolded in the Kingsessing neighborhood of Philadelphia, forever altering the lives of one family. On July 1st, 10-year-old Shanyiah A Gaines-Miles, a young female, lost her life in a heartbreaking incident. The cause of her death was an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. The firearm belonged to her uncle, who had left it unsecured in the home.
