On a Thursday afternoon in Hanover, Pennsylvania, a dispute escalated into a fatal encounter that ended the life of Michael Wayne Deyton. The 42-year-old man was shot on April 14, 2022, during an argument with Nicholas Nazario, who was 39 at the time and also a resident of Hanover. The disagreement, which reportedly revolved around car parts, unfolded in the 600 block of Linden Avenue.
Following the shooting, which occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m., Deyton was transported to Wellspan York
Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 6:44 p.m. that evening. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed at Lehigh Valley Hospital to officially determine the cause and manner of his death. Deyton, who was born on July 3, 1979, in Frederick, Maryland, was remembered as a devoted father, a loving son, and a loyal friend who enjoyed fishing, playing video games, and creating art.
The day after the shooting, Nicholas Nazario was arrested and faced several serious charges, including criminal homicide, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, carrying a firearm without a license, and tampering with evidence. Following his arrest, Nazario was held in the Adams County Prison after being denied bail. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for the latter part of April.
