Avante Donovan Booker, a 17-year-old Black / African American male from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was killed on April 19, 2022, in Wilkinsburg, where a quiet residential block on Midland Street became the scene of a double homicide. Police and emergency crews were called to the 700 block of Midland Street around 8:20 to 8:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Inside a home, first responders found Avante and 21-year-old Paris Glover shot to death.

A third man was also wounded in the shooting. Some reports said he was shot in the buttocks, while another described him as having been shot in the torso. He was driven to a local hospital, treated, and released. The home where Avante and Paris were found was described by CBS Pittsburgh as vacant, and a contractor at the scene said work had been underway there for about a month because the owner planned to rent it out. The contractor believed the house may have been broken into before the shooting.

The deaths of Avante and Paris shook people in Wilkinsburg, where neighbors described fear and unease after learning that two young men had been killed inside the house. Pittsburgh Public Schools confirmed that Avante had been a former Westinghouse student, and Paris Glover was also connected to Westinghouse, having graduated in 2020. The case immediately became a homicide investigation led by Allegheny County police.

At the time of the initial reports, police said no one was in custody. Investigators asked anyone who saw people leaving the area, vehicles fleeing after the sound of gunshots, or anything suspicious near Midland Street to contact Allegheny County Police through their tip line. Public reports did not name a suspect, describe a motive, or announce charges tied directly to Avante Booker's killing.

Weeks later, the case took on a wider significance when WPXI reported that ballistics evidence appeared to connect the Wilkinsburg double homicide to the Easter Sunday mass shooting at an Airbnb party in Pittsburgh that had occurred two days earlier. According to that report, matching 9mm shell casings were found at both scenes, suggesting that the same firearm had been used in the Airbnb shooting and in the Midland Street shooting that killed Avante Booker and Paris Glover. The report did not identify who fired the weapon, and the ballistic link did not amount to a public arrest announcement.

Based on available online reporting, Avante Booker's homicide remained publicly unresolved, with no reported arrest, trial, conviction, or publicly named suspect connected specifically to his death. The known story is that Avante and Paris were found dead inside the Midland Street home, a third man survived his wounds, detectives pursued the case, and later ballistics evidence suggested the same gun may have been used in another high-profile Pittsburgh shooting just days earlier.
