In the early morning hours of June 11, 2022, the body of 32-year-old Frederick Orr of Columbus, Ohio, was discovered alongside Kelly Road in the quiet community of Muddy Creek Township, Pennsylvania. An investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police was immediately launched, and it was determined that Orr, a male, had been the victim of a homicide, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation into Orr's death soon focused on his ex-girlfriend, Nicole Schwartz, and her new romantic partner, Daniel C. Lloyd. It was revealed that Schwartz had picked Orr up from the Butler County Prison on June 10, the day before his body was found. Unbeknownst to Orr, Lloyd was concealed under a blanket in the back of Schwartz's vehicle. The motive for the ensuing tragedy appeared to be financial, as Schwartz had reportedly spent approximately $3,000 of Orr's money while he was incarcerated.

According to police reports, after Orr was released from prison, he began questioning Schwartz about the missing funds. In response, Schwartz and Lloyd drove Orr to a secluded area on Kelly Road. There, Lloyd ordered Orr out of the vehicle and shot him multiple times, leaving his body by the roadside.

Authorities swiftly identified Schwartz and Lloyd as the primary suspects. Nicole Schwartz was taken into custody and charged in connection with the murder. Daniel C. Lloyd, however, remained at large for a period, prompting a public search. He was eventually apprehended and, along with Schwartz, faced charges for his role in Frederick Orr's death.

In the subsequent legal proceedings, Nicole Schwartz cooperated with prosecutors. She pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to commit third-degree murder. In May 2024, a judge sentenced her to serve nine to 20 years in state prison, with an additional five years of probation upon her release. As part of her plea agreement, Schwartz provided key testimony against Daniel C. Lloyd during his trial.

Following a trial in the Butler County Court of Common Pleas, a jury found Daniel C. Lloyd guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy. In June 2024, he was sentenced for his role as the gunman in the killing of Frederick Orr.
