On April 3, 2011, Terrell Payton, age 30, was shot and killed on Robson Street in Detroit, Michigan. His homicide was one of the many violent deaths that occurred during a particularly turbulent time in the city, which faced numerous challenges with rising crime rates and unsolved homicides.
