On the evening of December 30, 2022, a sense of normalcy was shattered in the employee parking lot of Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. Vikki Wetzel, a 49-year-old female who had dedicated over two decades of her life as an employee of the hospital, was leaving after her shift in the lab medicine department. As she walked to her car, the winter air was pierced by the sound of multiple gunshots. Wetzel was fatally wounded in the attack, which occurred around 5:00 PM.
