Patrolman Carl P. Hauck, aged 24, was shot and killed on July 29, 1907, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Hauck, who was of German ethnicity, had served with the Cincinnati Police Department for almost a year. On the night of his death, he encountered a group of men loitering and drinking at Gest Street and Harriett Street .
