Patrolman Herman Reimer, age 28, was shot and killed on January 28, 1911, while on foot patrol in Cleveland, Ohio. Reimer had served with the Cleveland Division of Police for only six months before his tragic death. He was investigating suspicious activity in a troubled part of town when he was ambushed and shot in the chest. Despite the efforts of investigators, no suspect was ever identified.
