Kortez Lamar Peoples, an 18-year-old male of African American ethnicity from Maple Heights, Ohio, tragically died on December 7, 2013, at Metro Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on June 4, 1995, to Rodney Peoples and Pamela Smith. Kortez was a student at Tri C in Cleveland and was a member of the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Blytheville, Arkansas.
On the evening of his death, Kortez was shot on Warrensville Center Road between Maple Heights Boulevard and Raymond
Street around 7:45 p.m. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Maple Heights Police Department launched an investigation into his death, but no suspects were immediately identified. The police department requested anyone with information to come forward and contact them.
Despite the investigation, no arrests or litigation related to Kortez's death have been reported. The case remains unsolved, and the family continues to seek justice for Kortez's untimely death. The community and his loved ones remember him fondly and honor his memory.
