Paul Fredrick, a 26-year-old male police officer of European descent, was tragically shot and killed on February 6, 1928, while on patrol in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was shot in the abdomen by two men at around 9:30 p.m. at 11th and Monroe Streets. Despite his injuries, Fredrick managed to crawl to a police phone and request help.
