Derrick Robert Holsinger, a 33-year-old male of African American ethnicity from Portsmouth, Ohio, tragically passed away on September 5, 2020. He was found dead inside his apartment in the 1800 block of Wayne Avenue, Portsmouth. The Portsmouth Police Department responded to the scene and launched an investigation into his death.
The investigation led to the arrest of Benny Kilgore Jr., 38, of Franklin Furnace, who was charged with murder in connection to Holsinger's death.
Kilgore was taken into custody shortly after the discovery of Holsinger's body. Additionally, the Portsmouth Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Anthony L. Louderback, another suspect believed to be involved in the crime. Louderback also had outstanding warrants from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections and the Portsmouth Municipal Court.
The Scioto County Grand Jury later indicted both Kilgore and Louderback on murder charges. The case remains under investigation, and the Portsmouth Police Department continues to seek information from the public regarding the circumstances surrounding Holsinger's death.

A celebration of life was held to honor his memory, attended by his sisters Jackie, Tasha, Andrea, and Christinia Holsinger, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
