Devin Lovaughn Sheppard, a 28-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on September 14, 2011, in Dayton, Ohio. He was shot in the chest while visiting a female friend at 7431 Gardenside Drive in Butler Township. Despite managing to reach a neighboring home before collapsing, he was later pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital.
The case remains unsolved, with no arrests made to date.
Detectives believe there may be others who have information about the shooting but have not yet come forward. The Butler Township Police Department continues to investigate the incident, urging anyone with additional information to submit a tip.
Devin was remembered fondly by his family and friends. He was a dedicated groundskeeper at Liberty State Park and enjoyed spending time with loved ones, listening to music, and tinkering with his hands. His hobbies included hanging out with friends, watching movies, and enjoying time with family. He is survived by his father William Wisniewski, his mother's Tawny Wisniewski and Josephine Echols, his brother Otis Sheppard, and numerous other relatives and friends.
