Adam Emanuel Bostic, aged 31, was tragically killed on January 9, 2014, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Adam, who was African American, was well-known and loved in his community. He was the fourth born of five children and attended Forest Park and Mt. Healthy Schools. Adam was staying with a couple, Betty Thomas and her children, when the incident occurred.
Brandon Thomas, a 29-year-old man from Lexington, Kentucky, was arrested and later convicted for the murder of Adam Bostic and Betty Thomas.
Thomas was hiding out in Cincinnati, allegedly to avoid questioning by Lexington police regarding a separate shooting incident. On the night of the murders, Thomas bound Adam and Betty with duct tape, stripped them, and shot them in the head execution-style. The couple's two young daughters, aged 3 and 6, were present in the home but were not harmed.
Thomas was found guilty of multiple charges, including aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary. He was sentenced to life without parole for the murder of Betty Thomas and life with the possibility of parole after 25 years for the murder of Adam Bostic. The judge noted that Thomas showed no remorse for his actions.
