Lydia Colon Aviles, a 43-year-old woman of Puerto Rican ethnicity, tragically lost her life on January 27, 2014, in Ashtabula, Ohio. She was fatally shot during a home invasion at her residence on Norman Avenue, near St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The incident also claimed the life of her 20-year-old son, Alexis Xavier Mook-Colon, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Lydia's younger son, Benny Alexander Mook-Colon, was critically injured but survived.
