On June 22, 2014, Damonte Pruitt, a 20-year-old African American man from Maple Heights, Cleveland, OH, was tragically shot and killed. The incident occurred just before 2 a.m. in the 3800 block of E. 147 St. Pruitt was found in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead at MetroHealth Medical Center around 2:30 a.m. Witnesses reported that there was a house party on E. 142 St., and shots were fired as people were leaving.
